My Opia is a post apocalyptic story that takes place in the sunless, waterless world, run by a small group of rebellious environmentalists and nomads. These people stayed on the destroyed post World War III planet Earth to go against the government's measures to create the perfect totalitarian synthetic society and terraform a different planet. Upon discovering uninhibited planets, the government faces a sharp need in incorporating the rules of environmentalism only a small group of people on Earth possesses. They send Luna, the strongest genetically modified girl on their spacecraft to Earth to bring back the head of environmental operations, the source of sustainability—Sunny.
This tale follows a highly-imaginative girl Sasha, who is secretly raised behind the walls of a communal apartment by rebellious underground authors. Sasha's family finds that their secret weapon against totalitarianism is in writing and spreading highly creative illicit literature.
Upon breaking out of adolescence and becoming the last underground author in the state, Sasha gets caught by the country's rulers, who set to erase her mind at the Chamber Of Oblivion, a prison camp for those who disrupt the dictatorship. Can an artist's mind survive in this torturous labyrinth? Will the true power of free literary expression be ever possible in this country?
The Legion is Kristina's second written and produced play. It premiered in Aug 2015 at The Gene Frankel Theater and was directed by David Kinniburgh.
Inspired by both milestone emotional events from the writer's life as well as her artistic influences, the story is designed as a vehicle not only for self-exploration but as a call for catharsis to anyone who has ever been in a life altering relationship, for the good or the bad. It deals explicitly with some of the most hidden, unspoken and disturbing moments that we experience in romantic and personal relationships. The emotional and psychological aspects of the narrative are meant as an eye-opening, reawakening juxtaposition to Real Life as we all experience it.
"The Legion is a story about a dysfunctional couple that traps itself in a downward spiral of self-doubt, ego and fury. While fighting each other’s demons, fears and phantoms the characters create a twisted labyrinth of games and struggles uncontrollably projected onto the other's psyche as their relationship progresses toward it's ultimate outcome, living and breathing in the world of the romantic psycho thriller".
In Oct 2014 Kristina wrote and produced her first play “In Thunder, Lightning, In Rain!”, which premiered at The Player’s Theatre in NYC.
The plot: "On the brink of Hurricane Sandy, an electircian, a kindred spirit, 4 artists and a well-mannered iguana living in a Brooklyn Umbrella Factory find refuge in a Storm Shelter. As their sanity gets put to the test, they must survive the Storm, themselves and the play itself. "
In May 2015 Kristina worked as a creative writer for the Coach commercial for Mother’s day starring Mariel and Langley Hemingway directed by Brody Baker.
